Welcome to AANZGOSA / SUGSS ASM 2024
On behalf of the Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand Gastric and Oesophageal Surgery Association (AANZGOSA) I would like to invite you to the combined AANZGOSA-SUGSS Annual Scientific Meeting at the Shangri-la Hotel in the heart of Sydney on the 31 October -1 November 2024.
This year, our theme is “No Guts, No Glory – Looking Toward the Future,” and we have put together an exciting lineup focused on the stomach. Whether you’re a seasoned specialist UGI Surgeon or just starting out as a registrar, there’s something here for everyone.
International visitors Prof. Simon Ying-Kit Law (Hong Kong) and Dr Sungsoo Park (Korea) are experts in their field, researchers, and dynamic presenters. We are privileged to have secured their attendance. This exceptional experience and expertise in gastric surgery, including robotics, makes this conference an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in gastric surgery.
There are many local experts attending with interactive presentations, video sessions and discussion scheduled to complement the central theme.
The collaborative efforts of Sarah Thompson and Inoka de Silva from AANZGOSA, in partnership with SUGSS (David Martin, Michael Talbot and Manju Siddaiah-Subramanya), have culminated in an exceptional combined program designed to offer a blend of scientific insights and practical clinical applications. This year, we are delighted to introduce an allied health component. This will be of interest to Cancer coordinators, dietitians, nurses, psychologists and physiotherapists. Please notify these members of your team.
Also on offer will be prizes for the best oral, poster and video presentations.
Throughout the conference there is ample time for social activities and interaction with colleagues, speakers and our invited guests. Please ensure you register and attend the conference dinner on Thursday evening and join your colleagues for a relaxing night.
We thank our industry sponsors as always for their essential contribution to the success of the meeting.
Please keep an eye on the conference website and your emails for further details and opportunities.
I look forward to seeing you in Sydney.
Paul Burton
President AANZGOSA
